In this World Cup I am predicting Germany to win. They are arguably the most complete team in the world and they have perfect chemistry and balance. Spain will finish second as their lack of height and strength will harm them in the end. I expect Brazil to finish a disappointing third and Argentina to finish fourth. I am predicting Germany forward Thomas Muller to be named the MVP of the tournament however, I am predicting that Argentina forward Lionel Messi to be the leading goalscorer in the tournament.

Group H consists of Belgium, Algeria, Russia, and Korea Republic. This is another group that promises to be very entertaining. With the young stars of Belgium to the veterans of Russia, one can expect plenty of great games from this group. Belgium could potentially be the biggest sleepers in the World Cup. They have the talent to go all the way but can the youngsters handle the pressure of playing on such a big stage. Eden Hazard and Vincent Kompany are the two big stars for Belgium and they will be expected to carry the load for the team. Algeria and Korea Republic will be looking to pull an upset and knock off the two European powers in an attempt to advance to the knockout rounds. Russia will expect to advance from this group but they cannot get complacent. They are a team that has been known to disappoint and they cannot let that happen to them this time around. Midfield star Alan Dzagoev and veteran Alexander Kerzhakov will be asked to lead the Russians in the tournament.

World Cup Preview: Group D

Group D consists of Uruguay, Italy, England, and Costa Rica. This group is loaded with talent. Uruguay could quite possess the best striking partnership in the world with Liverpool forward Luis Suarez and PSG forward Edinson Cavani. Uruguay will look to the two of them to lead the line against some very formidable competition. Veteran forward Diego Forlan will also be making a return to the national team and he could be a key player for the Uruguayans. Next we have Italy. They have been one of the most consistent national teams in the past few years. Just like Spain, Italy possess an extremely talented midfield with the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Daniele De Rossi, and Claudio Marchisio. They also have one of the most scrutinized players in the world, AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli. He is mainly known for his hot-headed nature but also for his incredible ability to score goals. Another name to keep an eye out for is New Jersey-born forward Giuseppe Rossi who has recovered from several terrible injuries to make the Italian team. Next is probably the most talked-about team in the world, England. They have the talent and they have the leadership to make a deep run but inconsistency and drama from the players could threaten to wreck their ambitions. Manager Roy Hodgson has placed an emphasis on youth as he has selected six players who are 22 years of age or younger. This team, however, will be lead by their veterans. Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, and Wayne Rooney will be tasked with moving this team as far as possible. Lastly, we have Costa Rica. They are without a doubt the biggest underdogs of this tournament. Most experts have given Costa Rica a zero percent chance of advancing from this group and I would have to agree with that. As big a soccer fan as I am, I can only name one player of the top of my head who plays for Costa Rica and that is easily their best player, Bryan Ruiz. My hope for the Costa Ricans is that they play with pride, enjoy the experience, and have fun. This, in my opinion, is the true “group of death” as I believe that three out of the four teams have a legitimate chance of advancing to the knockout round.

World Cup Preview: Group A

By Vishnu Nagaraj

The 20th FIFA World Cup begins on the twentieth of June from Brazil and it promises to be a spectacular event. Fans from around the world will flock to the so-called “home of soccer” to cheer for their home country. This year’s tournament features an incredible amount of talent, both young and old, that promise to entertain everyone. In the days leading up to tournament, Dabuzzza will release a preview for each group every day following up with my final predictions.

Group A:

Group A consists of Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, and Cameroon. The team to watch in this group is without a doubt the hosts of the tournament, Brazil. Led by Captain and top defender Thiago Silva and exciting young winger Neymar, this team has the talent, the leadership, and hometown advantage to make a strong push to win it all. Croatia are a dark-horse contender in this group. With their big three of midfielders Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic, and Striker Mario Mandzukic, this team can be expected to score plenty of goals. Next we have Mexico and Cameroon. Both teams are led by their star strikers, Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez for Mexico and Samuel Eto’o for Cameroon. These two teams have the potential to advance to the knockout round from this group but will need big time results to make that happen. Many people will say that Brazil are locks to advance deep in the tournament but they will be under immense pressure to play well. They will be going against teams that have serious talent so keep an eye out on the matches in this group.
