Studs and Duds: NFL Week 14
By Brett Malamud
Here’s week 14’s edition of Studs and Duds:
Stud: Le’Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers
Bell was the top fantasy point scorer in ESPN standard leagues in week 14. Bell had 185 rushing yards and a touchdown. He also had 50 receiving yards and a touchdown through the air.
Dud: Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos
Manning failed to throw a touchdown pass this week, snapping his 51 game streak. He’ll take on the Chargers in week 15
Stud: Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers
Newton played great against the Saints, passing for 226 yards and three touchdowns. He was in a car accident on Tuesday afternoon but was okay and was released from the hospital Wednesday morning.
Dud: Brian Hoyer, Cleveland Browns
Hoyer was unable to get the victory against the Colts, and now finds himself as the backup as Johnny Manziel will start for the Browns in week 15 against the Bengals.
Stud: Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons
Jones played stellar against the Packers on Monday night. He hauled in 11 catches for 259 yards and a touchdown. The Falcons will host the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 15.
Dud: Demaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos
Thomas had his worst week of the season, bringing in just two catches for 11 yards.
Stud: AJ Green, Cincinnati Bengals
Green had a very similar line to Julio Jones this week. The Bengals wide receiver caught 11 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown against Pittsburgh. The Bengals will head into Cleveland for a week 15 matchup with the Browns.

Thursday Night Football Preview: Saints vs Falcons
By Matthew Wieselthier
Before the season, this game was circled on the calendar as a game that could decide the NFC South. The Saints heading to the Georgia Dome to face the Falcons was to be a top game of the season. However, the Falcons have looked terrible. They’ve been bruised up at the WR position with Roddy White being on and off the field and Julio Jones being on the IR. The RB position has been inconsistent with no option looking great and maybe could there be regrets on losing Michael Turner. Whatever the case may be, the RB turntable of Stephen Jackson, Jacquizz Rodgers, and Jason Snelling has been far from good. And now, a Super Bowl favorite has turned into the laughing stock of the NFL.
The Saints are one year since “Bountygate” and cannot be more thankful. At this point in the season last year, they were 5-6 and missing Sean Payton, who was suspended due to the bounty problems of the past. This season, they got their head coach back and have been successful ever since. The Saints are 8-2 and are on top of the NFC South. They are averaging 28.8 points per game, which is good for 2nd in the league. Drew Brees has the 4th best passer rating in the NFL (106.7) and the defense is 5th best in the league, giving up 18.8 points per game.
In this preseason-hyped game that has turned sour, the Saints should be able to march into the Georgia Dome and take the win with ease.
Prediction: Saints 31- Falcons 17
